We took all our boxes outside.
Then our buddy class, Room 1, joined us to start setting out our lids.
We started off making rows of 10 lids. 10 rows of 10 lids and we had a square of 100 lids.
Ten 100 lid squares made 1000 lids.
Ten rows of 1000 lids made 10,000 lids.
At lunchtime we had 5 groups of 10,000. We had 50,000 lids. We still had 150,000 lids to spread out. We invited the rest of the school to come out and help and get creative. Make pictures, patterns, whatever they wanted.
This is what 200,000 looks like!
Well done everyone, what an amazing day!
Thanks everyone for supporting us on our lid journey.
Thanks to everyone who collected lids for us. Thanks to all the kids who gave up their lunchtimes to count and sort lids.
We have loved collecting lids.
Now lets get creative!
The 2014 Room 16 kids started collecting milk bottle lids. They wanted to collect 1 million lids.
We are now busy counting with the help of some of the big kids.
We sort the lids into colours. Then they get counted into bags and boxes.
These boxes are filled with lids.
So far we have 54,000 lids!!!
